Been thinking about getting a budget fat bike and I've really just been waiting for the Calibre Dune to go on offer again or get the Voodoo Wazoo instead. Then I saw this http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5990919

Is it a complete waste of money or alright for a bit of fun?

Cheers

Introducing the Piranha fat tyre bike, weighing in a svelte 22kg

Whatever you do don't get the heavy version.

Described as a BMX. If you do buy one, can you post a video of it being ridden on a half pipe?

Definitely not too good to be true.

It is all true, and too bad to be good.

TWENTY TWO KILOS.

The Voodoo is 16kg and if you're feeling flush the Specialized Fatboy is 10kg (ok, that's not a cheap bike, but still).

Figured as much, just can't justify spending out on something more expensive right now and I really want to go fat 🙁 Will just keep an eye on the secondhand market.

Thanks for the laughs though everyone, particularly chakaping.

I think that the fact that it weighs almost 50lb will kill any element of fun that's likely to be had on a cheap bike. Plus the brakes may not be that good at stopping such a monster.

If you buy your bikes by the pound that is a bargain

What I think is nice, is that Halfords sell the same bike for the bargain price of Four Hundred pounds. Yes, £400.

possibly worth more in scrap than as a bike at that weight......

just remember to remove the tires and tubes - the scrappers dont like mixed loads 😉

in the argos questions "My weight is 130 Kg , can this bike hold me ? Thanks"

At 22kg i think it would probably hold you and the rest of the family...22kg?! how is that even possible!

my 9 zero 7 with mavericks and rohloff is kicking the arse of 15kg.

22kg probably isnt that hard once you start with nice thick heavy tires , steel frame , steel fork , steel seatpin, steel bars , steel stem , solid axles etc
