You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Has anybody been yet? The pictures on their facebook page don't look great but it does look like they have gone to some effort!

I heard about this the other week for the first time. Looking at the pics at a) doesn't look like theres anywhere near enough elevation to need an uplift and b) looks a bit, erm, pants. Other better tracks around here by the look of it - Storthes Hall, Elland Woods, Stainburn etc etc etc
Looks like they're just pushed some soil about for 6 hrs with no consideration for drainage or ware.
Reminds me of those 'Winter wonderlands' that spring up here and there in this country.
Saying all that i'll reserve full judgement till i've been.
Looks like it's the motocross / 4x4 centre in Tong - only open for a few hours every few weeks
I'd suggest that anyone who's had a bike nicked in West Yorks in the last few months might want to go over and see if the Home Wood lads are riding it there
Looks rubbish IMO but if it keeps the natural stuff in the area quieter that suits me just fine.
Hopefully its the start of something good. Cock hill in Tod was/is still basic, but plenty of hours have gone into those trails and they are sweet.
Guess locals just need to go check it out and give them some support to help make it a better place.
Well i'll give it a go sometime but won't hold my breath. DaveyBoy whats Storthes Hall like? never biked around there.

Hope over realism I fear. From what I've seen there's no attempt to really create sustainable, long term trails - the place is primarily a 4x4 / motocross place and it looks like they're out with diggers the afternoon before MTB days shoving earth into suitable features that will hopefully just about last the day.
Storthes is good, it has one of the most satisfying berms in England.

It's also had around 20 years of development so it's pretty well settled, although there's not much drop in height it is good fun.
While I admit that I haven't been for a look, I occasionally see the daughter of the place. She told me years ago that some lads had attempted to build a downhill trail with their permission. This never got finished.
Also her dad loves his mountain biking so who knows.
I'm sure that you build a decent enough line but could you build it in a spot that doesn't get crossed by 4x4's or dirt bikes?
Where do you park for Storthes Hall? Is the trail easy to find?
DaveyBoyWonder - Memberdoesn't look like theres anywhere near enough elevation to need an uplift
I found the forest of dean flyup pretty eyeopening for this tbh, only 135 metres of drop but with a fast uplift, it works really well. Quite glad I didn't know in advance what a tiny hill it is as I might have been put off and missed out.
I think the FoD would p*ss all over Tong in terms of elevation though!

Through the hole in the wall and that path that goes gently downhill to the east. At the cross-roads, carry on and the trails are on the left in the trees - pretty easy to find*
* all correct as of 2006 when I last rode there. I've heard stries that the work has continued and its still really good. Did quite a bit of digging there back in the day.
It would be a long push to the top of Tong.
And the lads there are putting a lot of effort in to it, hopefully it can develop, I am at Husqvarna day there on Sunday I will check it out, but obviously I wont be ripping up the trails on the Husky.
Cheers i'll give storthes hall a go in the next few weeks. That is some burm in your pic munro.
Be good to get some feedback on tong sancho.
Me and a couple of mates were riding down Keeper Lane the other week. Half way down and loads of horses so we jumped the wall on what I think was the bottom half of the Tong DH. If it was it was pretty bobbins tbh, the descent down Keeper Lane is better IMO.
As others have said, the land is primarily used for 4x4 and notoriously holds water towards the bottom so I'm struggling to see how it can be sustainable - happy to be proved wrong though, and with it being on my doorstep, hope they can make a go of it too.
one thing I know is that the lads will adapt to the needs of riders, if people are prepared to work with it.
It could be pretty amazing as they have a lot of plant that can build big jumps which arent available anywhere else in the area.
They are having some sort of test/open day 21st Nov. Hope things dry out for them.
