If you live or work in Todmorden (aka home of Singletrack Towers) you can help shape our future.
Plans are being laid to invest £25 million in the town and some of us have put together proposals to ensure that, if we are awarded the funding, some of it will go into better facilities for cyclists and walkers.
From cycle paths and pavements that are actually wide enough to push a buggy or use a wheelchair to an outdoors centre to support (all kinds of) cycling and walking so that we get more sustainable visitors to drink our beer and eat our pies (we have the best, honest). Whilst we can’t guarantee that everyone who turns up won’t drive, we do have excellent rail links from Leeds and Manchester, we’re on the Pennine Way as well as the Pennine Bridleway and NCN Route 66 (and we’ve not previously made an awful lot of effort to lure people off them to stop and enjoy our cafes, market or pubs).
So, if you would like to support plans to make Todmorden more cycling friendly (both for transport and fun), please join the Citizen Assembly - https://www.todmordentowndeal.co.uk/ - or visit the market stall which will be open this week.
Todmorden last stronghold of decent northern clogmaking, now sadly gone.
