You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Having had some excellent experiences on the classifieds recently - both as buyer and seller - it stuck me that a rating system might help people out from both sides. I wanted to let people know about the brilliant attitude a recent seller had when his goods turned out to be faulty, but I didn't feel it was my business to name him personally. Plus I've just sold a couple of bits really quickly and I'd hope both my buyers would feel they could rate me back - but there's no way to do it in the system right now.
Has this been discussed before? Chips et al - can something be done?
Thanks
It's been discussed, seems like they're not into the idea for whatever reason. The simple solution IMO (which they use on basschat forum) is just to have a feedback thread for each poster, linked to from their profile.
Has this been discussed
to death TBH
You didn't think it was your place to name them, as being good to deal with? Who do you think should do it then? Or should they just be anonymous? Seeing as no transactions go through STW who would police this unchecked anonymous rating system? Do we just rely on people not abusing it...
I just don't think it's practical the way the forum runs.
The answer is simple - after you buy you put on the thread that you buy from the outcome of the transaction. When buying you search on their name and you get the outcome of any previous transactions
for example
TandemJeremy - MemberArrived today. Goods as described, no issues. Thanks

Fair points all. I just though a ratings system is easier to view in profile - that way you don't have to hunt a rating down transaction by transaction.
The reason I didn't name them is because they sold me something that turned out to be faulty (accidentally, no sharp practice on the seller's part whatsoever) and I didn't feel I had the right to point that out to the wider forum in case it put other buyers off.
Just a thought.

This get's my vote
I make an effort to be an honest and fair seller so it would be good to a) know if people who buy from me think the same and b) for other people to know

This is why IMO the one transaction thread is a better idea than TJ's. And would surely still be very easy to implement. What TJ said is worth doing in the meantime though.
