In the market for a new lid (yes I'll be buying form a shop so I can check fit etc) and my LBS has the TLD in stock.
I've read a few reviews about them being a little warmer than some other helmets so just wondering if people do find them a warmer?
Currently have a Met Kaos which is pretty cool in the warmer weather...

Biggest problem for me is that it doesn't have any brow vents. There's an unremarkable flow of air around the sides while riding but nothing coming in from the front. This - coupled with the thick and luxurious padding and extensive coverage - makes it a hot helmet ime

Would also add that if your head is in the region of 60 cm the XL/XXL is enormous

Although I've read reviews stating its one of the warmer helmets I have to say I dont particular suffer with it. Depends how hot a person you are already I guess, my mate would probably pour in it but it doesnt bother me at all.

Same as GolfChick, I'm averagely sweaty I'd say and unless it's really humid don't find it to bad at all. I was worried about it being hot but it's so comfy I took a punt and I'm now on my second.

I don't fit mine any better or worse than other 'fuller' coverage lids in terms of heat. They are all hot, because they are big, cover a lot of your head and don't have more vents than actual helmet, like an XC lid does.

I guess mine hasn't been hot enough to deter me from buying another after I tomahawked myself into the ground, head first last weekend, hard enough to split the inner & outer shell.

Considering how much I messed myself up I was glad to be wearing a helmet with better coverage.

Its a lovely comfy lid but coming from a Fox Flux, i have found my forehead gets very, very wet.

its not so much how hot they are (which is a lot by the way) its how much sweat the pads hold, which is also A LOT. if you are happy with a sweat shower down your face everytime you move it on your head then go ahead.
I reserve mine for cold days in winter and use something better vented in the summer

I have a Bern Morrison that's similar. I don't notice it being especially hotter and air flow across the top and the sides is reasonable, but at the forehead, sweat accumulates in the big comfy pad and runs down into my face. I've had better for summer riding. In cooler temperatures its much less of an issue.

No problems at all with temperature, but I have very short hair. I agree with earlier comment about size. I'm 'lucky' enough to have a 59cm head, so the size L looks and feels great on my bonce.

Sure, you can get more vents, but I doubt it'll be as strong as an A1.

My only -ve of an A1 is that the visor can't be lowered enough without removing the central stop-bolt.

Brilliant helmet.

Ixs trail rs was the best I've had in terms of cooling. I have a tld a1 now but use a catlike leaf in hot weather.

Really comfy but very sweaty on hot days. No worse than any other helmet for the rest of the time

I rode a Grande route of Dartmoor Classic (100 miles) in this helmet last year and I didn't find it at all uncomfortable.

i've found it to be the best fitting helmet for my head. It's a wee bit hot in the summer but no worse than any helmet. Although I do strap my helmet to my backpack if I know it's a long climb.

Well, thanks for all the replies. Just back from trying them on and they're a no-go for me. M/L I was on the bottom of adjustment so too big, S/M would just about go on my head but not comfortable at all.
Looks like I'll have to stick with Met (unless they've changed shape recently).
