Ok I've just started building up my Rockstar, fitted the new XT double 26/38 chainset started fitting the front mech, top mount top pull as reccomended on OO website.

Set the mech height correctly to the big ring, thought swingarm clearance looked tight so fully compressed the shock to find that the swingarm hits the mech at full travel.

I've done some searching and looked at lots of photos, older ones with a triple chainset have used a low mount top pull mech. Others with Sram XX so 28/39? have no problems with a top mount.

So question, is the cage on a bottom mount shimano front mech a different profile? so therefore will assist in clearance?
Or will a SRAM double front mech work with my XT shifter, don't really want to mix and match but currently I'd have to run the bottom of the mech cage about 10mm higher than the reccomened 1-2mm from the big ring.

Mines a triple and fine, check you have a 200x50 shock rather than a 200x57.....

You need to saw the down pull arm off to work a front mech on a Turner Sultan frame, this may be similar?

Found the problem! The Xt double mech I bought of the classifieds is actually a M781 triple front mech not a M786 double therefore the cage is deeper 😳
