Boring question... but what would be the warranty on these frames...? Can't see any detail on the on one site.

The headset size required quoted on the On One website is ZS44, EC50. Is this the same as ZS44, EC49? I think the lower measurement is actually 49.57mm?

If its made by Van Nicolas - why only a 2year warranty? As Van Nic offer a lifetime.....

The On One badged Lynskey 456ti frames came with a lifetime warranty

why only a 2year warranty

I guess 'cos it limits on-ones liability and keeps costs down?

It's not made by Van Nicolas.

I'm not in the market to buy one as I already have 2 very nice 29ers in Ti, but if I was then I wouldn't buy one with a limited warranty lifespan.

The old titus frames (rrp around £1600) had a final rub-up with scotch brite and I always thought it spoilt the look of it. I remember the old website or one of the old catalogue's showing a worker finishing them off and once you unboxed the frames you could see that the welds were nicely laid out but slightly spoilt by scotch brite scuffings going across the welds. Infact, the welds had polishing/heat marks going across them. (poor welder must have been pissed off)

I always cursed this person at the end of the production line. In the above pic,is this still happening?

Tell them to buff up only what's needed!!

Specifically because it's a Ti frame ?

Would you buy an Alu frame with a 2-3 year warranty ?

Kind of agree with Andy. I'm not sure of relative failure rates, but if alu frame fails it's a much lower loss. Steel frames are fairly easy to repair. If a ti frame fails (and they do as polenty of threads on here show) it's an expensive and specialist repair. Hence I'd want a longer warranty or (as On-one) a cheap intial cost.

Sorry should have been a bit clearer. Any frame will fail but I guess if I am paying £700-£800 for a bicycle frame I'd expect it to last longer than 3 years, or the supplier to make an undertaking that they expect it to lat longer and back that with a warranty.

I dont see the problem, Santa Cruz only have a 2 year warranty on their carbon frames that are 3 times the cost of the evo.

Didn't someoen on here get a Ti frame repaired and it turned out to be a lot less than people imagined (about £120 to re-attach his headtube rings a bell)? And 2-3 years is still a fair amount of time, long enough for any manufacturig defects to show up, which is what a warrenty covers, a component reaching it's fatigue limit or being stuffed into a tree wouldnt be covered under any warenty (although some places might offer some good will).

And if the price stays as it is then it's not much more (and sometimes less) than some comparable aluminium frames anyway (SC highball £599, canfield yelli £850, titus fireline £699).

We all know that a warranty has a cost associated to it for the supplier, so I wonder how folk would feel about buying an extended warranty on bikes/frames? Pretty common thing to do on most consumer goods, cars, etc these days. If I was buying a frame for 700 quid I could be quite tempted if they were also selling an extended warranty.

FTFY

If your TV stops working it's hard to the manufactuer to argue as it shouldn't fail unless you've poured coffee down it, if a bike fails then they could just say you've used it more than average and have had a a reasnoble lifetime out of it, as any manufacturing/design flaw lieka weld not penetrating properly or a seatstay not upto the disk brake forces will become apparent relatively soon.

Titus US have them up on their shop now, with some pics. The larger size doesn't quite look as nice to my eyes. Shame. It also looks like the headtube is to long and needs cutting down above the TT.

http://shop.titusti.com/product-p/frtitfl29.htm

The warranty is 2 years "for all structural issues and manufacturing faults" according to the man from On-one, who also helpfully then added "The paint and bushings are covered for 1 year for manufacturing defects." Paint, bushings? Right then.

I hoped not too, but having checked in the USA, it does seem to be the case that they have come 31.6mm fitting.
Which I am obviously quite dissapointed about.

Ian. What spec is your Reverb? Perhaps we can arrange an exchange for one of these here - http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/SPRSREV/rockshox_reverb_adjustable_seatpost

This thing looks God damn sexual...But seems to come with the issues associated with a hot blonde! 😀 In the process of building a Titus Rockstar right now and might very well be in the market for this too and try out the Ti HT too...hmmmmm. Fair do's though Brant, you are straight in there to try sorting the Reverb issue, hope that works out for Swayndo.

2 year warranty? Nice. I have an old Titus HCR with the full Titus lifetime warranty - and they were fantastic at repairing a hairline crack on a weld after 3 years of racing.

Brant - the geo chart on the On One site needs sorting... the reach and stack measurements don't match the key.

If my interuptation of them is correct this looks good, my concern is that some Ti frames can be a little... soft/noodly, I would want it to be direct with compliance when things really kick off.

Cheers

Will check reach and stack. Updated that last week. Did I get them in wrong order?
I might have been working off new diagram I did whic actually shows effective top tube dimension correctly.

they shipped them out of the uK before I even knew they had landed!

and before the decals arrived from the USA.

I think decals are in tommorow, so we'll be playing catch up.

Sorry for that.

Errr the head tube seems to be a strange size, the CK tapered headset is right at the bottom but miles too small for the top - internal measure is 44, I am confused or thick.

The chainstays are too short! There is no room for a front mech between the tyre and the seat tube. It was sold as being triple chainset compatible. I'm using an XTR FD M970 mech and there is no way it can fit.

Not happy. I'll be on the blower to On One in the morning.

Current front mech is top swing. No way will it fit. Just tried an old bottom swing mech and that fits, but only by a baw-hair. Inner cable is only just not being fouled by the tyre tread, and it's a Racing Ralph, so not exactly a chunky tread. If I stick with it it's a new front mech then...

Really nicely finished frame and the tyre clearance is monumental, nearly finished mine cant wait to ride at the weekend!!

Massive apologies for lack of guidance on front mechs. It is a short stay design and I should have been smart enough to clearly notify purchasers of what front mechs work (and which don't).

Front mech clearance is an issue on short chainstay bikes, but can massively be improved on many "dual pull" front mechs with a modification to the mech by removing unused hardware on the back of the mech that is only used to route the front mech cable if pulled from underneath.

If I stick with it it's a new front mech then...

Absolutely, if you are unhappy, then it's your right to return the frame.

I've calmed down now Brant :-/. This is my 3rd frame from you guys and I was just initially peeved. I'll just have to fork out in a new top swing mech. The wife won't be happy though.

The frame does look lovely. Really neat welds and lovely detail around the dropouts and brake mount.

Are you getting in any 120mm forks anytime soon?

To be honest, I'm not happy either, because of the way we're getting stuff in, and out, so fast, without us giving you guys the heads up on stuff. I'm going to try and put a stop to it and with new stuff like the El Guapo 29 I'll airfreight and do a proper check over sheet so that it's all clear.

These came in sea freight, I didn't see final production before you did!

And the decals were late.

I'm sorry about the front mech and if we can help with pricing, then I will do. I've got my bestest mountainbike mechanic on it tommorow, going through front mechs to check what's good. Giving advice.

So I'm sorry.

Though personally I'd 1x10 it 🙂

We will be offering complete builds - we're just putting a spec to order together - but due to the oddities of component supply it might well be full builds or nothing. We'll see.

That looks SWEET. Yep no decals going on mine either. The metal head badge would be nice tho. Mine should come today.

I'm assuming the SLX/XT 3x9 from my Ragley won't work, which is a pain cos things are too steep around here for 1x9. Looking forward to clear guidance.

From what Brant said, it looks like we're the ones who will be giving guidance!

Agree, all you need on a Ti frame is the headtube badge.

I think the clearance issue is just about the front mech, so you should be good with 3x9, it just necessitates grinding off the extra hardware that's not required on a specific mech that fits.

Jon who's posted here, did it to his X9 front mech on his Yelli, to allow him to run 2.4's no problem, but agreed, grinding off parts, (if you have the specific mech that fits in the first place), is not ideal...

You have to fettle a front mech on the DW five spot. Hacksaw, file paint - Simples.

There might be a few teething problems Brant, but the speed of response is pretty impressive IMO - Hats off for customer service sir.

Agreed but with lots of short chainstay 29ers coming out it would be good if SRAM, Shimano came up with some lower profile mechs??
