6 days before matey and i ride off across the alps.

he took delivery of a new lighter shock and we went to pick up the new bushings today.

peddle out of the shop all cheery. 200m down the road. BAM! PPSSSSSS... out comes several 100 psi. the swively valve on the RS Monarch swiveled and got scissored by the frame.

cock. buy a new shock or TRY/HOPE to get it fixed before 24th (next friday)...?

giant AC2 (2003 frame decked with lyriks and between 4.5-6" at the back) and my DB Alpine also with lyriks.

sad to find out today mine only weighs 500gr less than matey's bike 14.3kg.

it may weigh 1.1kg less if matey has to use his old coil shock.

aren't you guys on relatively 'racey' bikes? we were planing on 3 people riding but one guy pulled out so we decided to use our beefy bikes because it meant not having to 'do up' our other rides.

We have a wide variety of bikes. From full race Scalpel to Shaun on his £400 Kona. Needeless to say Shaun is probbaly the fastest downhill but there again he is a nutter!

The main thing about being 1Kg lighter is the less effort required to haul the bike over the peaks. That 1kg will make a difference.
