Someone on here had a Chinese-import titanium frame (Druidh?).

Any links/experiences/advice?

It's for a mate who wants a road frame.

Cheers,

SC

You called???

I got mine through ebay a couple of years back when the exchange rate made it phenomenally cheap (£350 delivered). I honestly can't see anything wrong with the quality of it, despite all of the "US made is better" arguments. It's from the Hang Lun factory that made/makes Airborne, Van Nicholas and (it would appear) the new On Ones.

Their website appears to be "under re-development at the moment - http://www.ti-bicycle.com/

The exchange rate isn't as good now - and will likely get worse quickly as the Chinese Government is taking steps to increase the relative value of the Yuan.

btw - if your mate wants a closer inspection of either The Onion or of my (same-factory-made) VN Amazon, let me know.

I wonder what the minimum economic volume is for a small production run?

Thanks for the offer Druidh.

Mate lives near Alness and is famously phobic of travel south of the Great Glen. I'll let him know of your offer nonetheless.

🙂

cycleworlduk - when you say 'lynski'. I presume you mean Lynskey? If so you're completely wrong as all Lynskey frames are built in the States.

Where practicable I'd rather buy a product manufactured in the home country of the founding/designing company every time. It's supports the local community, skills development through apprenticeships and a general sense of national self sufficiency rather than a bunch of CAD designers sitting in front of a computer, who wouldn't know how to construct anything if their lives depended on it. God forbid if there was another world war, we'd be absolutely ****ed as we've no idea how to make anything anymore.

Sadly in our rush to consume we conveniently put these considerations to one side, happily purchasing from a country with an appalling environmental and human rights record. As long as we get what we want it's all ok 'though, apparently.
