Hi,
I have a litespeed ti road frame sitting in my garage that has been sidelined due to the front end being too high even with a 17degree stem. This frame holds a lot of sentimental value to me so I don't want to sell but can't see myself using due to the fit.
Where the top tube meets the headtube, there is a few cm of tube 'spare' between the weld and the headset cup, can anybody recommend a frame builder who may be able to trim a little off this? I would then reface it and fit the headset again, hopefully with a slightly lower stack height. This is all assuming that the headtube is a straight 11/8 all the way down and not hourglassed in any way. Thanks in advance.
Talk to Enigma.
Yes, that can be done. Another option would be a custom stem.
or Ben of course 🙂
[edit] do you do Ti work Ben?
I don't weld it (yet) but can hacksaw it as well as the next guy 😉
I do make custom stems, though.
Custom stems ey? I'm interested, can I email you?
Sure - ben@kinetics.bike 😀
Ah cheers Ben, I've just seen your website and found the stems on there, I'm running a 14 17deg at the moment so may be keen for a 15. Ill be in touch.
Can't you just set to it with the headset reamer/ face for a little longer than normal?
And thanks wwaswas, enigma is a good shout.
I could do, but I reckon I could get at least a cm off.
