How is this so damn hard!!!!

So, if all else fails i'll be using a dual ply Minion front and larsen tt rear (both 2.35 42a) tubeless on flows with sealant at high pressure. Weighing in at 1.1kg each!

But - a massive saving in weight (but an outlay in cost) could be had if i used a combo of Schwalbe Nobby nic front and racing ralph rear (both 2.25 or 2.4 front/2.25 rear) in the double defense variety. Weighing in at about 700g each!

Would the latters sidewalls take it even with the double defence?

I'm little (68kg) but will fairly motor (monter truck) the rocks.

P.s any idea when the Hans dampfs will be available in the UK? Schwalbe UK are ignoring me.

Realistically, how much pedalling is there to do and given the loonieness coming down and is weight really an issue?

The dual ply with DH tubes would be perfect.

Don't worry about the weight, worry about the durability.

Have fun!

what stratobiker says - but i've never had any need to run a DH tube in anything. Dual ply tyres will do the trick on their own.

As above, but would recommend dh tubes. I'm taking off my Nics and replacing with High Rollers and dh tubes for Mega. And take some spare tyres too, you may shred them pretty quickly!

I agree with flowmtbguy, no need for DH tubes with dual ply tyres. From a group of nine there were zero punctures all mega week running dual ply minions with skinny tubes.

Dual Ply Minion DHF on the front and dual ply Lopes Bling Bling on the back for me.

DH tubes are pointless and heavy. All you need is skinny XC tubes. I haven't flatted for years on my DH bike running them.

Dual Ply High Rollers tubeless worked for me. I wouldn't worry too much about saving weight, there's not that much uphill/flat really - and getting punctures would be a massive PITA.

To add the the chorus; Dual plys with freeride tubes (or normal ones if you are a smooth riding Vouilloz passing* mountain God like me)

*He may have had a puncture.. probably from riding tyres that were too light; see, you get to pass biking legends from they right tyre choice!

Cheers guys. I did the race last year with 300g freeride tubes and dual plys. Not 1 puncture - and smoked R.Absolon(sp?) when he was having tire issues.

but..........dropping 600g of tubes and 500g of tire is appealing.

Thats alot of rotational weight. Just don't wanna rip a DD tire and am not sure of their durability.

Quick one - if i went 50/50, ie ran the dual ply maxxis setup tubless, what needs to happen....

Flow rims + yellow tape + Tires + sealent + compressor?

Or do i need to fanny about with rubber strips?
