Block of wood and a hammer, or a rubber mallet from the frame side.

Try and direct the force as close to the spindle as possible.

If you don't want the cranks or bb just take the bolt out and go for a ride but not too far so that you can get home when it eventually comes off.

It was easy to do with old style BBs, sadly the method wont work with sealed units, but I'm having a think.

A car hub puller will pull it straight off if you can borrow one. They ain't too expensive from machine mart either.

On a square taper taking the bolt out and riding it worked fine, but never tried it on a splined bb

Likely to ruin the crank too.

+1 for tap with hammer using block of wood. Keep rotating 90 deg than tap again and work your way around. Riding is likely to damage the crank.

Not if your careful and keep checking to feel when they start too come loose. Must have taken the same arms off a dozen times using his method in the 90s and they still work fine now but I take them off with a hub puller now

had to do this a few times! If you are not going to use the crank again then heat it up until it is very hot with either a blow torch or a camping stove (my preference). It is then very easy to tap the crank off with a mallet. Try to get as much heat as possible on the area around where the crank connects to the BB. It needs to be really hot so don't be shy. I've tried huge amounts of force on some cranks without success. The heat method works every time, but the cranks are usually goosed afterwards.

good luck and take care not to pyro anything...remember that the crank will be red hot when it flies off after being malleted....my shed has a cool brand mark on the floor!

Angle grinder. Alloy melty mess every where, crank is ruined. You did want it removed though?

Can you remove the drive side crank?
If so, try and find something to use as a spacer on the B/B axle between l/h crank and b/b cup, remove r/h crank, then undo r/h b/b cup which will then force the l/h crank off.
