Following on from Digger90's thread.

What's the smallest 26" wheeled frame you know of. I'm looking to build something like this for my boy...
Isla Creig
I've got some suitable bits in the garage for a build and it may work out more economical in the long run.

Initial thoughts were 14" Inbred. Any others.

Inbred probably best bet, although check out the angles first if putting short travel forks on, could be v twitchy?

GT used to do 12.5 inch frames, my wife has one.

How tall is your son?

Big M. Picked up on your question in the previous thread.
Here is a pic of Son with bike:

He was 8 when I built it, but is 11 now.

The inbred is a really good frame for a small kid, and is flexible enough to grow with them as they grow.

CHB,
cheers thanks for the link, that seems like a great solution. I'd like to be able to build something that will grow with him and last a good few years.

M.

just re-reading that. Daughter still waiting for a scandal though!
I bought her a carrera luna 24" brand new today.
A scandal would still be too big for her (she is a small 8).

Bought my 11 year old a 14 inch Kona Fire mountain - the Inbred seemed to be a bit too long in the top tube

Steve, it is long, but thats why it works. When brat is small fit a 60mm stem, a set of fleegle pro bars angled back to make reach short (thats whats in the picture). As urchin grows, maybe a longer stem and a normal set of riser bars.

It looks like it'll be an On-One Inbred, don't suppose anyone has one for sale?

I know someone with a brand new (still in wrapping) Inbred 456 at a VERY good price. Let me know if you're interested. Cheers!

IMHO the Creig is big for a 14" frame. I took one around the yard at the shop and thought it felt almost as big as my late 90s 16" Kona. I'm 5'3" and didn't find it at all cramped.

Those Giant frames do look pretty small. I'll do a bit of digging on the net.

get some short cranks. My 5'2 partner pedals much better on her 155mm cranks than even the 165 XT set i got her.

Short cranks are definately a good call - will make a massive difference (sorry)!

I've got a 14" Barracuda Subway (sold as Blackjack, Cardwhore and some other names) that comes in very low but not overly short.

Bunch of parts to help the build if you'd like too.

In Manchester, but I have a big box & friendly postman!

I'd think it's worth £50+postage, but I'll do you a lot of extras very cheap! 😉

Could even build it up if you like (I can't resist a project!), have wheels, tyres, stem, saddle and so on, and someone's selling some RS Dart 1s on here very cheap...

Have some 24" wheels too, but they're pretty beefy - probably not what I'd recommend for a youngster!

Let me know what you think,
Pete
