You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Right, somewhat of a personal question here so I'm going to be frank about it. Aside from nipping to the shops I generally wear padded shorts, I find that any road ride over 6-7miles (which is most of them) I get a tingly dick when I'm out. Not in a semi kind of a way, in fact more the other. I've got my (Specialized Rival) saddle set where it feels right for my position and not pushing me into the bars but I'm a bit concerned.
I don't suffer the same when off road.
Has anyone got any pointers at all or recommendations?
Seat angle / seating position / seat type - you should have your weight your sit bones (ischeal tuberosities IIRC) not on your perineum. Yo ar ecompressing the perineal nerve which could cause real issues - get it sorted
Not tingly but sometimes it goes numb which is not good in company when the blood rushes back 🙂
Tingly=blood being cut off?
Make sure the saddle is flat if not tilted a little forward to relieve perennial pressure (all year round perineum pressure). Maybe drop the saddle and move it slightly forward too? All adjustments should be made in small increments.
Your posture should be independent of bar support; can you ride in that position without the bars holding you up? If no, you may well be tipped too far forwards and crushing Mr Gooch.
Assuming your frame sizing is correct etc, try out the old heel on the pedal at 6 o'clock when seated to get your maximum seatpost extension. There should be a vertical imaginary line from the leading kneecap to the pedal axle when pedals are level (9 & 3).
Or maybe the saddle doesn't fit your shape?
just stand up more frequently.
Turbo training gives me this no matter what saddle I use, only the second I stop I usually get an involuntary raging ****-**..
must remember never to give spin classes a try! 😈

I sometimes get this when I've had my saddle set a bit too high...
Seat angle pointing up too much?
Has anyone got any pointers
Not you by the sound of it 😕

Had this too on a long road ride on a Spesh saddle, tried reloading said member but kept happening so dropped nose of saddle (that I thought was set perfectly level)literally only by a couple of degrees and no more tingling manhood.
google "penile numbness", it can cause serious problems latter in life.

I've just done this. Will see how it goes next ride.

I probably couldn't ride on the drops without the bars there, no.
I'll see how it goes with the saddle nose down slightly. I'm 1400m on it so far but have only really noticed the tingle on longer rides. It' not a blood pins and needles feeling, more of the, ahem, pleasurable feeling yet without the physical pronouncement.
Ahem.
That makes me think more about

Thanks for all the pointers guys.
