I've always ridden time pedals - for two reasons, I like them and I have two pairs that are still going strong.

However I now have more bikes than pairs of pedals. The two pairs I have are old 8 & 14 years, so I was looking at getting a new pair.

Any recommendations for the newer models?

Which ones did you have just trying to work out what the difference is between the models - I can see the s ones have a platform and xc4 ones have more red on them - im guessing weight but is there anything else?

I prefer the stability of the roc atac despite the weight penalty.

The ones I have are fairly old and bomb proof so I guess any new ones will be lighter (I think they are alium and atac ones if I remember rightly)

Not the xc4. Just go for ROC atac or ROC atac s. They are like the old aliums but better

Mrs BigJohn & I both use Z Freerides. It means we don't have to change pedals when on holiday we ride about in flipflops or high heels.

Cue hilarious gender comments.

ROC atac at £45 on wiggle should do the job

Was just looking at some - but turns out the are xc2's (they look identical except for the xc2! )

Roc rebranded as XC2 for 2013.

Yes, Roc atac now xc2. I'd not spend the extra for the xc4's though
