I'd noticed that the bars had a bit of play in them. Seeing as I've always had the tension on the lowest setting, I've been able to adjust that one click and that seems to have sorted them out (for now).

Has anyone on here ever wore them out fully? If so, can you just buy new parts or is a case of new pedals?

Thanks for any feedback.

I have had Atac pedals for many years on all my bikes. Never actually worn them out fully, but eventually they get a bit worn and so the interface with the cleat is a bit 'sloppy'. By then the bearings are also well worn, so probably more cost effective to just buy a new pair of pedals.

I replace the cleats pro actively every year. So far they've been fine. They do wear in over a couple of rides after replacing the cleats, but they never feel sloppy or loose - not in the fore and aft longitudinal plane anyway, which is where you don't want play. The rotational and lateral play is tight initially but loosens off with initial bedding in. After that I feel any further wear or loosening. They're brilliant.

Service kits for the pedals from Chickens was £70 a set 🙄 last time I enquired, so bought shimano in the end , as more cost effective and sold all my Times.

Only seen one set of pedals with the bars worn out, they were over ten years old though, everything else is cheap and easy to fix, the bearings are about seven quid each, and bushings are about four quid each from simply bearings, and they only take a few minutes to change,
Top pedals IMO...

An old set of mine worn a bit and then snapped the bar off one side although in fairness a rock may have been involved.

Just bought a new pair as the service kit was a silly price.

Thanks for all the replies! I knew about the axle servicing etc. Just wasn't sure about the rest of the pedal. I think there's still plenty of life in the ones I've got anyway. 🙂

Bought 4 for less than a fiver from a bearing shop about 80p each

never worn any of mine out and my oldest pair are 10 years old- road bike so i guess not much clippiness use

The ones I shown are OE spec stainless steel metal shielded things, you can get non OE cheapy ones the same size for pennies..

I've been using Time ATAC for a very long time. In fact I still have an original pair on a hack bike back in Blighty that are still going strong 15 years later. However my experience of the newer pedals are not so good. They have made them lighter by making the springs smaller but they get 'rattley' after a year. I have also been trying to get spare parts from the German distributors for the past year with no joy. By looking at the pictures of the 2013 version it looks like they have addressed the problems of wear by going back to the simpler twin spring system of old. Here's hoping anyway!

This would seem to be the case. What parts are you trying to get? I'm not sure if the wear is on the bars, springs or tension screws...maybe all of those?

Ive worn out a few pairs, the recent models over the last few years don't seem as durable as the old school TIME pedals.

I've worn a pair out too. In the end they were really sloppy and the bars had become flattened through wear & would probably have bent or broken if they'd been whacked by a rock.

In the end I just got some Shimano M520's which work really well & amazing value for money too. Haven't really missed the extra float the Time pedals gave me either.

Is this what you need?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Time-ATAC-XS-Spring-Axle-Steel-/400488829851

I have some atacs where these are worn making the bars rattly. I think some models had alloy ones so check this would fit first.

Nostoc - I think replacing them would help a lot. Mine are already the steel ones, but I can see where they have worn. I'll try and track some down for a better price than in your link...some places are selling them for less than a couple of quid, but want a lot for postage.

I've got some really worn pairs - the bars are quite thin now so I'm sure they'll snap soon. A couple have developed a some play in the bars so they rattle but I can't really feel it moving when clipped in. I must unclip my left foot a lot more than my right as that pedal is worn more on every set!

They're great value IMHO as I've never serviced them, just changed cleats - probably once a year as have a few pairs of shoes so they last quite a while. Bearings are a but rough on a some of them so may change them on ones with thickest bars. The ones on my commuter have done over 10,000 miles in last two years and were old when I put them on!

Khani - where did you get your bushings from?

Got mine from Simply bearings, there's some on ebay as well but I thought I'd try the oilite ones, they work perfectly and are supposed to be longer lasting
