Any recommendations?
I didn't want a mounted one, we've two vehicles that might end up on bike duty so wanted to be able to swap and change.
Maypole BC3013 3 Bike Towball Mounted Cycle Carrier | Euro Car Parts
I've seen this, which seems perfect.
any other suggestions from people here?
Another Buzz Rack here which tilts very easily with 2 heavy bikes on it. Very happy with it. It's solidly built and feels like it will outlive me.
I bought the E-Hornet because it's designed for heavier bikes with a longer wheelbase which is perfect for modern gnarpooons. And who knows, I might even try an e-bike one day.
ooh like the look of the buzzrack.
Going to order this one:
BUZZ RACK BuzzRacer 3 bike wheel support rack no. BRP333
seems alot easier for our 3 bikes (2 adult, 1 child) I've got road bikes too so this looks just the ticket for all our needs. Cheers
I wish I bought a Buzzrack. I bought a Yakima one that does what you said, all my mates have Buzz Rack and it's significantly better.
haha, when you're right you're right. It does what I'm looking for so i'm sold.
I’ve that exact one and it’s ace. Even fits my XL transition spire which has a very long wheelbase ! Good choice sir!
And add a couple of these wraparound arms when you cant get the clamp arms to grip your frame
Came to say Buzzrack 🙂
Solid kit that works well.
I keep considering towbar racks but I’m really scared of how secure they are against coming loose. My brain can’t picture how they don’t just swivel on the towball.
As soon as you tighten one up you'll see why it won't rotate. They're absolutely solid.
I've got the Halfords Advance Two Bike Carrier and was about to recommend it until I saw the current price! I paid less that half that 2 years ago...
Another Buzzrack user here, solid bits of kit for a good price. Apart from the weight I can't see why anyone would spend the extra for a Thule, some models it's double the price.
My brain can’t picture how they don’t just swivel on the towball.
I had similar thoughts over a decade ago, then I saw someone reverse one into a brick wall in the car park in Cwmcarn. The wall fell over, the rack didn't budge at all. My next car went towbar and rack without any worries and has been perfect in a decade of use. It's even been solid when I've not done the ball clamp up fully, not realizing until I got home and spotted I'd only done the hand clamp up and not the big clamp bolt!
Have as look at Thule stuff too....
The ease in which they attach in seconds and have a kick plate to tilt for boot access is awesome.
I had an older buzz rack which was functional, but the extra ease of operation with the Thule was well worth the premium for me.
Probably doesnt apply for you but for anyone with a van with barn doors - have a look at the new Atera Strada EVO RV
Based on the plder DL slider but capable for ebikes
Ratchet straps are a bit fiddley at times with cold hands - but its the only one I've found that works with my VW T6 barn doors
Quite a big stand-off from the rear windows as well compared to most other racks I've used / seen
I've got a thule that tilts. Haven't used it that much but very satisfied with it when I did. Needed the widest I could find to fit my rather long wheelbase, which ruled out some of the cheaper options.
As for solidity, yes I was wondering that too, but it turns out they clamp onto the stem as well as the ball on the mount. And they are heavily built (well mine is). Completely solid in use though I have only put two standard MTBs on it, not behemoth e-bikes.
have we said Buzzrack yet..? 😉 i've got the E-Scorpion 2 as well - it's brilliant, folds up neatly has wheels does the job well, fits loads of bikes with ease.

just seen the new pro-series - that puts the locking mecahnism firmly in Thule territory so a no brainer!

Yep, there's no way it can rotate on the tow ball... the tilt mechanism can tilt unexpectedly though 🙂
Wow, what rack was that? Please don't say Buzz Rack!
I can't see how mine could ever tilt accidentally. You have to manually unscrew the bolt which stops it from tilting and move the handle out of the way. You can't really leave it undone without noticing.
If I ever left it loose with the handle out of the way I think it would flop over as soon as the car moved. I hope.
