Looking to lower the gearing on wifes road bike for the winter, witha compact on the froant will the gs (med cage) verions of the 105 and tiagra mrear mechs work with a 32 cassette. Some online retailers say yea the shimano website says 30 max for tiagra and 28 for 105 but if that is with a tripple willit go on a biger sprocket from a compact?

5701 and 4601 mechs (newest version of 105 and Tiagra) are rated to a 32 if you use a GS cage and a double front according to the 2013 Shimano Support Manual.

ta had jsut found full details on the rosebikes website, now just need to find somewhere with tagra instock at decent price
