Surprised not to see a thread or something on the front page about the new Ti/carbon Stanton FS frame
I know it was shown as a prototype at Ard Rock but now it’s available. Lifetime warranty to, compared to Yeti etc price seems almost reasonable
HOW MUCH!
Very nice indeed.
Looking on Stiff it’s now £3.6k for a Santa Cruz carbon frame and £4K for a yeti
To be fair, as Rik says, a lot of frames are in this ballpark now, but i'd hazard a guess those buying this one are more likely to be buying this for keeps and the shock options are pretty much top ones as well, so no 3.6k frame with a rockshox deluxe or the likes!
It is gorgeous
I am aroused tbh. And if I'm understanding correctly it's all interchangable so that an existing user can have the carbon rear end or the ti front? That's pretty cool.
(I like that you can spec it with no front triangle, no carbon rear, and no shock, it's like ordering none pizza with left beef)
Looks amazing!
Am curious about their geometry approach with less BB drop than other similar travel 29ers - maybe they’re asking for a mullet? 😉
The interchangeable parts would make for a very interesting/geeky article on feel - Ti vs steel front, carbon vs alloy rear.
That popped up on my FB, it looks lovely.
I wondered if it was cheap enough that I could treat myself, it isn’t.
There was one of these at Llangollen at the weekend. Very nice indeed. Immediately caught my eye. Very clean welds and tubing, just looked neat and super bling with carbon rear
Having owned the original steel and alloy switch9er fs for a couple of years and seeing this come out i was keen.
I already have the carbon rear end on order which should arrive today hopefully, i was very interested to see the price of the ti front end, when i looked i just couldnt justify the cost.
It looks awesome and is such a great bike, i think the carbon rear will make quite a big difference.
Love my switch9er and it gets lots of comments when im out and about, the Ti version is even more special but not justified for my level of riding.
Switch9er is on my list of new bike options. I chatted to Stanton a month ago and they sent me the link to that Ti version. It’s way out of my league price wise. Compared to all the other expensive big brand options this would 100% get my imaginary money
@marksnook - look at the steel version - whilst yes it is heavy, it really doesn't ride like it.
Its an amazing machine, and climbs surprisingly well. however it is so planted when descending it makes you feel like a decent rider, and i am very distinctively average.
A mate I ride with us the steel version. It is very nice! His is the 18” though so a bigger size than I would get. Kind of want a custom colour but not sure they have the capacity at the minute. That ti one just looks all the good!
Yeah i have custom geo and custom paint, went with an 18inch with standover of a 16.5.
Paintwise - i went all white with black decals, no heritage wrap.
If you were to order then just bear in mind to take whatever timescale they tell you with a pinch of salt.
I had a few issues when i got mine but it took 8 months in total.
Same with the carbon rear end, was initially told April for delivery but has only been delivered today.
If you want something quickly, i wouldn't be looking at Stanton.
Saw this at the Malverns and had a long hat with the guys on the stand. It is lovely and is definitely in the mix for the next bike - when I've got that much disposable. . . .
I think custom geo is an option on the ti fs9er but not currently on the steel one. Would go for a custom colour too if I had the option. I’m looking towards spring for a new frame so no rush!

If you want it for spring, that's tight for Stanton, however pleasant they are on the phone and however reasonable it sounds when they tell you 6 weeks.
Maybe a sentinel is looking favourite then 😂

This ^^^
However the guys are really friendly, and you get to chat to the people who weld the frame and paint it/sort decal colours out on Ti versions, you can even speak to the owner occasionally if you so wish.
However wait times for most stuff is vastly undersold, whatever they tell you triple it and you'll be in the right ball park. although i will also say, the wait is definitely worth it.
Like i said above, because i ordered one of the early switch9erfs frames i was offered the carbon rear at an early bird price which is great, however they did say originally that it would be delivered by April, april rolls round nothing, may rolls into june and we get told its down to no rubber grommets being sent with the rear ends, july rolls over into august and they then have the parts but no boxes to send them out in.
i will say they did offer to send it earlier in a "makeshift" box if i wanted but it was still only the end of July.
I dont want the above to be construed as moaning about delivery times, but i feel Stanton need to be more upfront with their average wait times.
If i knew it was an 8 month or so wait, i'd still order but at least id be happier about knowing how long it would take rather than sit in the dark and not be told anything until i chased.
I think I would be more tempted to wait if the custom option was doable. I understand they are busy as hell so would like to avoid custom if they can. Although they did mention custom on the ti..
Just curious, anyone know where they’re manufactured? The website says something about the carbon rear end being made with some partners from F1, but on a quick scan read I couldn’t see anything about who, or where, the ti front triangle is welded.
That is a lovely looking frame. Way beyond my price point so can somebody please buy one and post lots of pictures? Always liked Stanton bikes and would love to see a short travel steel full suspension 29er from them. Full Sherpa would definitely tempt me to get the credit card out.
I’d get one if I was rich enough. Jealous of anyone who gets one.

A little while after they lost their UK Ti welder, I saw an insta post of theirs showing off some new proto Ti frames, and a lady from Waltly saying she was pleased they were happy with them.
Unusual kinematics - super low leverage ratio (140mm travel from a 65mm stroke) and very progressive too. Is everyone running a coil with very tweakable damper on them?
No, mine came with a fox X2 air shock and its awesome 👍
Im running an EXT storia on mine and its sweet as a nut, heard good things about the air shocks.
Really tempted to whack a custom geo Ti front end on a credit card. think the Mrs might kill me though.
Can these run at 160mm like the steel ones? Asking for an imaginary friend 🙂

@Alex no, these are the 29er version which only runs at 140mm travel, the 160mm version is 27.5 only and no Ti version as of yet.
Ah thanks. I am kind of tempted but my Ripmo is 150mm and my other FS is 130. The RipMo is a great bike but it's three years old and I'm getting twitchy. Thinking about something new for Basque MTB back country tour next April.
I mean it wouldn't make much difference due to pilot limitations, but it does look amazing. And it is *quite* a lot of money. But with the EXT shock, I don't think it's bad value compared to what else is out there. But then I'm a fiscal idiot...

Agreed - to be honest my steel front end alloy rear is more bike than i can realistically handle, but it is a great bike, meant to be 140 rear and 160 front but i run mine with a 150 fork and its lovely for me.
i have just seen the carbon rear end on its own is £1000 which is quite pricey, because i bought a full frame from them i got an special price which was too good to say no to.
If i didnt have a big house remodel that was starting next month id be all over the Ti front end like a tramp on chips, but alas i cant justify the 4k its going to need to get the custom geo i want with the cerrokote decals - not that ive looked into it at all.
🙂 I'm wondering if the best approach would be to turn the internet off unless all the 18s are sold!
From memory of the conversation they were making the production bikes in Taiwan and the custom geo bikes in house. I believe the carbon rear end is similar in that the one you see is made locally but production has been outsourced. Either way it's a lovely thing
