Hey all,
I am in the market for a new bike rack. I have a very old, but well used and loved Thule 2 bike rack. Now my daughter is on a 26 inch wheel bike, i need a rack with more capacity.
The Thule VeloCompact 3 looks like a modern version of what i have. Seems to tick all the boxes, but want to double check there isn't anything odd, weird or frustrating with it.
It will be mostly carrying my 29er Enduro bike (1250-ish mm wheel base), a 27.5 Transition Scout and a 26 Whyte 403.
Open to other suggestions, although i don't want an Atera rack, as my friend has one and i find the straps bloody awful!

Yes, had one for years, very good carry 3 bikes on it several times a year and two regularly. The only issues I’d have it’s a little heavy to manoeuvre but that could also be the case with others.
IMHO is one of those things you buy and wonder how you ever managed without one.
I have one of these, its been very good. Normally bought out for holidays wknds away for Xl 29r plus 2 26 MTBs or couple of gravel bikes. My only issue and this is my issue as i didn't check this properly, for the back of my transporter with a tailgate door the rack isn't far enough away to allow the boot to open when tilted . OK for a car but not a transporter. The more expensive one works but i was in a rush and it was a good deal. Packs up relatively small to store in a shed too
also worth checking the towball dimensions/geometry - Thule racks don't fit on some, such as the new generation BMW retractable towballs, as supplied as an option on their EVs...
