We got one a while back...pretty happy with it.
Best bit is after removing the bikes, the wheel holders and rear lights slide in, then you can lift it off the towball and plonk it straight into the boot.
This is a good thing, as the rack itself is a fairly weighty bit of kit and its a bit awkward to carry anywhere. Had ours about 3 months and its only come out of the boot a handful of times when we've needed the space.
Also I've not really worked out a way of storing it without it being at risk of falling over or scraping all the paint off it, if we didn't keep it in the car I think I'd put a big hook in the garage to hang it from.
As you can stick it in the boot it avoids any issues in tight car parks with it getting in the way, or other cars pranging it if its out of their view when parking. We normally put it in the boot whilst riding.
I'm also looking at tow ball mounted racks, has any body got a Atera Strada dl it looks like a really good alternative to the Thule
Are the wheel mounted racks a lot better than the ones that hang by the top tube ?
Wheel mounted are better in that there is less chance of paint damage, and inconsiderately placed linkages/shocks and the small frame triangles of many full sussers will not result in bikes sitting at 45 degrees when you've work out how to thread the arms through the frame! Wheel support racks also keep the bikes separated, the other type rely on padding etc to stop the bikes damaging each other.

Stoner has the Strada.
I have the older Thule Euro Classic and it is rock solid in build quality and in use but having seen the Strada I think I'd have one of those.
Any reason not to buy the 3 bike version
I have a slightly sloped driveway and when I drive [forward] onto the road the bottom rear of the rack scrapes on the driveway (any 3 bike rack is going to suffer I guess but I hadn't anticipated this issue). I'm thinking of swapping to a 2 bike rack (with 3rd bike adapter for occasional use). I may swap to the Atera...the Thule is 'okay' but more plastic than I expected.
We have a steep driveway too and the Thule rack doesn't get close, seems pretty high. It's steep enough that our van clonks it's towbar on the floor if you go any faster than idling speed.
Craig - what are the advantages of the strada ?
We also have a steep drive along with the fact that our lane is so narrow that the rear inside wheel lifts of the floor when we turn into and go up the drive. We have the four bike Thule rack and still have no problems with clearance. We cant even reverse up the drive or we would take the front bumper off.
Strada is ace as you can tilt & slide away from the car/van to be able to open the boot. Very useful on our campervan.
It will take a good weight too. I use a strap from the top ube of the last bike to the boot lid top for added stability and once it's all done up it's rock solid. Really good bit of kit. Adjustable wheel supports mean I can get load of different sized bikes on there and the tube clamps work well too. Just really nicely put together, but then it wasnt cheap either. Although we get a lot of use out of it as it goes on the campervan for a month of the year for summer hols.

Just looking at the Euroway G2 as well. There's some comments on the bikeradar review that says some "big trail bikes" may not fit on the rack. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Stoner...any issues with yours tilting back when driving?
Some friends have one and it seems to make a habit of randomly dragging on the floor! Theirs has a red pin or something that pops out when secured but seems it might have two levels of 'poppage' to try and fool you...
Edit - obv the extra strap would reduce the chances of this...

absolutely not. In fact it takes three hands to get it to slide in the first place 🙂
Sounds like the interlock (little red button behind & to right of number plate) isn't returning to locked when they push the bikes back up. I always tread on the release bar and give the bikes a good shake before setting of. If the interlock's done it's job then it shouldn't release. You can manually trigger it by reaching under the plate and giving it a wiggle.
Just picked a G2 up - Will report back, once had a play.
Only used it the once at the weekend, but very impressed. Light and easy to fit to car, good bike fitting with 1x29, 1x26 and 1x16 on it. Very stable and it tilts back enough to allow upper and lower tailgates to open. Top work Thule.
