When searching completed eBay listings to get an idea how much to try to sell my bike for, I had assumed the prices shown were what they asked for, rather than what they got.
But looking more into it, I appear to be wrong. It seems the price mentioned is the actual winning bid
Is that right?
Green is what they sold for. Red is what they didn’t sell for.
Wahey. Awesome. Many thanks.
Unless it’s a Buy it Now with offers, in which case the price shown is the asking price, not necessarily what it sold for.
Ok, now I'm confused. So why do they not show how much it sold for if it was sold as buy it now.
Also
Green is what they sold for. Red is what they didn’t sell for.
Didn't see any red, but various crossed out greens. Whassatallabout?

Because that would tell you how low an offer they would accept. Fine for a one off but not so good for seller if they have more.

Crossed out green means a best offer was accepted.
Like you I thought the green price was the sold price but I’m not sure it Always is the sold price.
I have sold things and looked up things that I know the sold price for and if a best offer was accepted it seems to show the bin price in green (no strike through) rather than the actually accepted offer.
So use with care!
Ah, strike through might mean a second chance offer then 🤔
Just sold some stuff on ebay last night and had forgotten how much the steal from you from your selling price.
They charge a fee on postage as well, and even £2 for a line of text.
****ers.
Steal from you? You mean charge to use their service surely? I don’t think they’re a charity the last time I looked.
You could always advertise somewhere else and try to sell there instead.
