My Cannondale Topstone has ungainly handles on the thru-axles so I thought I’d simply replace them with stealth ones. Front was easily replaced with a brand x offering but the rear is driving me insane.
The writing on it reads: 195G5 QR52X-12-160-P1.0 16.5. I know the P1.0 is thread pitch but is the 160mm length of the total axle? What the hell does the rest mean?
I feel like I’ve spent hours on google trying to source one and having no luck.
Did you come acros the Robert axle project?
I feel your pain and gave up! So I'm watching with interest 🙂
I have a 2019 ali Topstone. What's annoying is I use two wheelsets, if I have the handles nicely aligned for one, when I change wheelsets I have to unbolt the handles and reset them in the ' correct' orientation again. Minor issues I know, but annoying 🤣
16.5mm threaded length?
> deleted - nope that one was longer - 165mm <
Does the axle have the OLD printed on it?
Alpkit in Hathersage has a bucket full of various sizes (all stealth type) upstairs for £5. I keep meaning to measure up and get some spares in!
QR52X-12-160-P1.0 16.5
I would say that's a 12mm axle of 160 total length thread pitch 1.0 and threaded section 16.5mm.
But that's just a guess 😂
As above, but does x-12 mean its syntace style.?
The 160mm length usually is without the head and the angled spacer (x-12 style).
If you don't mind ordering from r2bike this NEWMEN axle would tick your boxes.
