You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
You see all these silly programmes on tv about dieting, read all the fancy diets on the net, just wanted to share this, 12 months ago I was a rather portly 25 stone and 10 lbs, and at 6ft 5 was indeed a man mountain. I decided I needed to do something so bought a bike, caught the bug, ate a bit less but still had the odd takeaway, I just see food as extra miles on the bike now, and I am pleased to announce this morning at approximately 730, I weighed my self and to my delight I am now 15 stone . My bmi finally is at 25 so no loner classed as overweight.
So to sum up eat less ride more this is the future
Three cheers for you more like!
Well done.
Well done! 11 stone in a year is massive!
Wow - well done. How
much riding have you been doing?
Excellent stuff. Well done. I weigh 11 stone, so you have lost me in a whole year!!! Crikey
Big up to the OP. Now, let's get this miracle plan trending...
nice one.
Well done that man. Keep it up.
Good effort, that's a lot a weight to shift!
I've lost weight this year, not on that scale, but I found the fitter I got the more I wanted to ride, the more I rode the fitter I got.... you get the picture 🙂
Weight to go!
Feel like a different bloke , and treated myself to a camber comp 29 and love it, can't get enough of biking
Been doing 12 mile round trip commute every day and about 20 on a weekend . Loving it
That's an incredible amount of weight to shift in a year. Bloody brilliant. Well done that man and what a way to lose weight - doing something that you really love.
Started off using a specialized rockhopper comp, but wanted a treat, really loving the camber , friend keep trying to get me to buy a road bike but I'm staying strong
Road bikes are ace too. Not forgetting a cross bike either. All great
I always kicked against a road bike, finally got one 2 years ago, still prefer the mtb, but road bikes are fun too,
Great work. Hats off, that's a big change.
Well done that man!
Nothing but admiration for people like you that take the first hard step of deciding to do something about it and then sticking with it making the hundreds of next hard steps to keep going, you should be properly proud of yourself!
Thanks for all the positivity, a change needed to be made and what better way, I'm 42 but feel 16 again on the bike
Presumably cycling was the catalyst for a lot of other changes as well.
Well done that is an amazing amount of weight loss due to taking up communting/ MTBing 🙂
Enjoy your new 29er you deserve it.
Next step - enter a race or two this summer!
This is an interesting read as well. Same approach:

Superb mate. Well done
Exercise has been the key to it, all I have done is cut down, still have the odd takeaway, oh and not forgetting sacking off the Pepsi, used to have a 2l bottle a day
Unbelievable transformation. Well done. Thats an incredible about of weight to lose.
And this is scary, I gat married in April 2012 and on the suit hire the measurements were 58" chest 22 " shirt and 50" waist I am now a44" chest,16" shirt and 36" waist, I have kept a pair of trousers and I still wear the belt I did back then so I can see how much weight has gone
