I'm a bit confused about what I should do to service my BB. Most of the videos on YouTube suggest taking the BB out of the frame but not taking it apart (e.g. this one from GMBN). However here SRAM says the exact opposite:

It goes on to talk about removing the inner seals, inspecting the ball bearings etc.

I normally just pick the seals out, give it a clean with a rag and packnit with grease before popping the seals back on. Can easily be done in situ. I also do it before fitting the SRAM BBs as they seem a bit light on grease from the factory. Still find they're crap though, but the above delays the inevitable.
If it's SRAM GXP, just replace. £20 for a new one. Cost of two bearings.
If you've spent loads on fancy Hope etc then you might want to service / replace the bearings. How you get them out depends on the design.
BBs I don't "service" as such. They get a clean and regrease surfaces if crank is off. Replaced if clearly worn bearings.
Literally pop the cranks off, then use a pin to pop the seals off. If the bearings aren't running well, time for a new BB. My drive side is a little rough, but it's well greased up and spins well enough. I just re-grease every few months.
