As per title, my daughter has a Trek Roscoe which is a 27.5+ hardtail. Came stock with a RS TK Silver 120mm fork (29r) which is now getting a little shonky.
For a budget of around £250, what would be a decent set of forks?
51mm offset, for consistency.
Not sure it will fit 27+, but if it does I would recommend the rockshox revelation.
Currently to be had for £234 on eBay at alpkit outlet
You'll comfortably fit a 27.5 x 2.8" tyre in a 29" Revelation Boost fork, they're very good for the money (especially that money!).
https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FORS35GRL29/rockshox-35-gold-rl-debonair-29-boost-fork 100mm is going for ~£150. Can't they be adjusted to a longer suspension?
Manitou machete.
I've got 35's on one bike and Z2's on another.
The 35's struggle at sort travel as they ramp up a lot, I ended up running mine slightly longer than intended to get enough travel out of them. In general they're still a good fork, only really out of their depth if you really smash through stuff. I presume you can adjust the 100mm ones up, you can all the others.
The Z2's on the other hand are actually a great fork if you can find a set in budget somewhere, might have to be 2nd hand.
Scratch my earlier suggestion, they appear to be sold out. And no wonder at that price
It seems to be open season on Fox 34s on ebay just now, I guess since the 38 came along the 36 is now officially an XC fork or something? 🙂
Shame about those at alpkit. The 35s might be ok but changing the travel from the off seems a waste of money maybe?
Ideally new, just for comfort and no doubts about provenance or condition.
Edit, just checked and it appears it would be no more complicated than removing 20mm of “all travel spacers”…..I think.
Manitou or X Fusion McQueen if you can find one.
What about a Reba? £269 here - looks like only 1 left.
Should be a lot lighter than a 35 and I believe the 29er fork also does 27.5+
As Northwind says - best bargains around at the mo are Fox. 34s are excellent. 36s seem to being thrown away (I mean, not the travel the OP is after, but £399! https://www.merlincycles.com/fox-36-float-grip-performance-forks-275-244684.html !)
I got 34 Rhythm from Merlin cheap, they're better than my 2021 Pikes.
hame about those at alpkit. The 35s might be ok but changing the travel from the off seems a waste of money maybe?
It's a 10 minute job, and free.
They come with a plastic spacer with 10mm graduations, just chop through it at the length you want and re-install.

Seems to be 3 left @£215.

If so, slightly cheaper here.

This would probably suit as for 27 5+ I needed a 29 to get a 2.8 tyre in with enough clearance
Swear they were sold out the other day! Must've been doing my usual very poor attempt at searching😑
Sometimes, procrastinating works out. Just ordered some of those dirt cheap Marzocchi Z2 from CRC. Good PSA that one. I was hovering over the Fox 29r forks at £300 but they were just a bit too spendy.
£180 with 6% TCB too!
Have you seen the CRC Xz for ynder £200. Link in the PSA thread
Z2 on crc while stocls last is bargain of the month
