Warning, offensive carpet and wiring. Wiring will be sorted. Carpet... not. Also ignore the Honeywell fans, threy are now redundant and going to be redeployed.

Got the Vacmaster fan from Amazon warehouse reduced and boy... they can move some air! I know a few of the guys use them on here for Zwift etc. They really are good.

Wanted to make the "beam" of very focused air vertical though, ala Wahoo Headwind. Sideways on a lot of the air is wasted imo.

So...

Gaffer tape.
Corrugated cardboard.

And...

Now I know some of you guys would 3D print the extending leg and pivoting strut but still.

You need to extend one foot or when you tilt the fan its unstable and shifts to one side. Cardboard rolled up and taped on.

The pivoting leg allows angle adjustment of airflow. Just pivots on a bike made of gaffer tape. Inside out tape on the foot to allow grip on floor.

It's fitted into a remote control plug along with other fan above the table.

I'm now looking at a bodge to remotely control the 3 speeds of the fan. That will need a bamboo cane, a small universal joint... and gaffer tape.😜

Actually a remote would be really useful.

Love the bodge so far though.

Oh no, that's not tape, that the hastily cut off shrunk wrap from the desk top! I'm not a total monster. I'd have used gaffer tape for that purpose if needed.

Yeah forgot the public safety warning for the wallpaper.😉

I’ve got one of those vacmasters with the remote - it’s great. Hadn’t ever thought about turning it the other way so you have a vertical wall of air coming at you 🤔

My eyes, aaaagggghhh, that just grinds on the neat me, couldn't permit such a "mess" in my man shed 🙂

btw, I just went for the full overkill solution and got two of the remote control ones, one at each side but different distances away so hitting at different heights (both will work off the same remote control). One is also on an Alexa voice control plug, so I can easily have one or both on. Only time I ever need both though is on Tues night STW races.

Yeah, the remote control one would be nice but it would have cost a fair bit more, particularly as I got my one from Amazon warehouse.

Ive already begun making the "remote" for this one. Pics will follow.😉

All that said, even if you just prop the fan up on a box or something for one ride to try the vertical orientation I've gone for, you might be inclined to do a nicer mod. It really does make more use of the air.👍

(Wish I'd got one of these fans ages back, i was genuinely surprised at the amount of air they shift and at a pretty good noise level too.)
