.....any practical uses for them? Shame to chuck it as like the seatpost it seems fairly nice quality, like a nice shoe bag, if i had very long narrow feet.

Lost mine.

Filled it with socks.

Oh yes. 🙂

I also keep my wallet, phone & keys in a dry bag which lives inside my waterproof backpack.

I also have a carrier bag which contains:
1. A compass.
2. Some food/indigestion tablets.
3. A pair of shades and a buff.
4. A pair of those little l.e.d emergency lights, one red, one white.

Items 1 - 4 live in separate carrier bags, which all live in the first carrier bag, which lives in the waterproof backpack. 😀

But you forgot the spare tube. 🙂

In the seatpack:

1. 2 tubes. Repair kit.
2. Multitool (incorporating tyre levers).

Each wrapped in their own carrier bags, naturally. 🙂

Take up bike polo and store your mallet in it (does it have carrying straps?)

Yeh, I've got a marzocchi 66 bag too - it's perfect for keeping all my Thomson seatpost and stem bags safe from harm

Makes a nice retro tube/tool bag held under the saddle with Alfredo Binda strap.

I have used it once to protect the forks en route to the alps.

however I'm keeping it in case I ever have kids and they take up snowboarding.

Use it to put your spare plastic bags inside in the kitchen then hang it on the back of the pantry door with your apron

These bags seem so versatile I've decided to buy one. What should I do with the free seat post that comes inside it? So far the best idea I can come up with is a vice for holding two pencils.

Splash some cash and get a Thomson Masterpiece. Now there's a bag with class.

Mmmm, velour.
