Finally, XC and trail forks that seek to address the buildup of air in the lowers, which has plagued every suspension fork I’ve ever owned. But the article says Silverfish are the importer and they seem to be saying that they are not due in stock until the 8th of November. Is that right? I know they are 2022 forks, but have they really launched something today that you can’t get until November?

Maybe with shortages etc they're going to manufacturers first so they're doing the launch now so that people know what they are when they appear in full builds?

Or, maybe we're just getting them slower? I mean, right now UK distributors are struggling to get chains back in stock while the EU channels seem to be working.

Historically Fox have always launced new product at SeaOtter so their timing is normal.
We would typically wait until the annuncent before ordering and then end up with the next model year forks on our guide bikes ready for the first guests in May.
But, covid supply chain challenges would reaistically push retail availability back.

Think I will wait for our ace US trade deal to kick in.   At present the US price for the GRIP2 version appears to be $969 (about £692) but the UK price is £1,139 (£949 before VAT)

Oh yeah, I was forgetting about our great trade deal with the US. I'll wait for that to kick in then. Bound to be in place before November 🙂

Seriously, I guess it's fair enough to do the release now if they are going to start appearing on bikes soon. Even if the rest of us can't get one until the Autumn.

Does anyone know how the bypass channels on these new 34s work? I've seen conflicting messages online. Some sites clearly state that the channels allow air from the lowers to escape past the seals to stop pressure building up. Others say that it simply increases the volume of the lowers (slightly) to make the effect of the air trapped in the lowers less noticeable (and allow oil to get to the foam washers).

There aren't any valves on the back of the legs (like on the 38s) so I'm guessing it's the latter, which is a shame. For some reason, every fork I've ever owned has suffered from pressure building up in the lowers over time, necessitating the old "zip tie past the seals" trick to let the air out. So, I'd like to see an XC/Trail fork that didn't suffer from this.

How much air build up are you getting on xc/trail forks??? I know some of the newer DH forks have release valves but that's serious DH I can't see it's really necessary for XC?

It seems to build up over weeks/months and the forks just start to feel more and more harsh until I release the pressure that has built up in the lowers. As I say, every fork (fox and rockshox) that I’ve owned has done this.
