Anybody else seen the half dozen or so Fireline frames all with a repair at the seat tube junction? I have been looking out for one for a while but have kind of gone off the frame as a cheap way into second hand ti now...

Group Buy on frame repairs?

Looks like an industrial repair, and that's being generous

But of a resurrection....
Apart from looking very industrial is there any major structural reason why this repair wouldn't be any good? They've been on eBay for a while and I wonder if it's worth a punt to get a cheap Ti frame?

Perhaps I'm being a muppet those...please illuminate my thinking!

That's an alarming amount of oxidisation for a material which should only be welded in the absence of oxygen. Let's hope it's just surface contaminant.

Badly done to say the least. All that discolouration on the weld means that there had been contamination during welding (insufficient gas shrouding) so the metal will probably very brittle around that area.

I'd expect better welding on my plough.

Too light for an anchor and too large for a paper weight.

"used but superb condition" 😆 "Oh except someone welded a thing to it, in the dark, we're not sure what it is". They needed telling to even put that wording on, when they first listed them they were just "superb condition" til I reported the auction. Very trustworthy sellers your escgolf.

Wouldn't pay for one of those! Repair is minging!

Second hand Ti frames go for £300-£400 (uncracked!)

I wonder how much these frames owe the seller?

Clearly that seller is hoping a potential buyer doesn't read the description or look at all the pics

it's a great resource to see where on-one/ planet x are having quality control issues

the rear brake fitting on the exocet 2 seems to be a particular issue

This frame has been professionally repaired

I don't think that word means what they think it does...
