As above really, the main seal has removed itself, and no amount of shouting seems to help it back in so probably time to get it serviced.

TF and Slick & Slide don't do it. Emailed I-ride on Monday, still no response. Anyone else?

I-ride. That's it. Ultimately, it what put me off Thompson droppers. You can't even do a simple sliding parts service on it.

Do I-ride still do Thomson? I thought there was no distributor for Thomson just now.

Really? That makes it even worse.

Edit.
Yep, looks to be the case. No UK distro listed on bikethompson.com
France, Spain or Germany are your next best bet it seems.

I-ride still have pricing for servicing on the site, and in fairness I did get an auto response saying they were swamped and not to expect instant response, but still.
Phoning gets me the ‘all our reps are busy’ message.
Urgh.

edit pending clarification

Seems there was a little confusion but all sorted now. Looks like the best way is to ring them 🙂

I have one that creeks so much I have gone back to a normal seat post. Possibly one of the worst bicycle components I have ever bought. Up there with leaky Shimano brakes.
Interested in getting it serviced if possible.

Depending what needs doing but I didnt think the iRide price list is that bad. The full works essentially gives you a new dropper post for £170 on what essentially is a £350 dropper post (discounts might obviously be available) and the other service levels are cheaper and might be all thats needed

Haven't Upgrade just taken on Thomson?

yeah ive spoken to them now. They quoted for the full works (£175)and a replacement stanchion (£75, as mine was scratched), which included a £100 cartridge that wasnt required. They will do the work without replacing the scratched stanchion, but wont guarantee the work, understandably, so replacing that, then doing a basic service (£55), which isn't too bad, £130 all in.

Rant avoided/dispersed.

Haven’t Upgrade just taken on Thomson?

They hadn't, or hadn't publicised it, when I sent the post off...

I have one of these. It lives in the Northern Peak, is five years old, is on its fourth cable, and lives behind a dirt flap (google it I dare ya). It still works brilliantly and effortlessly; full travel, super smooth, no wobble. I also have a Kore dropper for which none of the above applies.

I have three of these, also used in the Peak District. One of them, a 27.2mm one, got squidgy after a couple of years and cost around 100 quid to sort out with iRide. The other one, a stealth 31.6mm version has become graunchy and clearly needs a service. The third one is okay, but is on a bike that gets relatively little use.

They're nice things for sure, but it's irksome that you can't service them yourself and they have to be sent off to a single UK service centre.

I've got an old 27.2 one (which itself was replaced on warranty), and now can only rise to half-mast. It's just not economic to sort out, there are better alternatives on the market now for only slightly more than a full service and less if you need to swap a cartridge.

It was a class leader when they launched it, but it's certainly not worth 350+ new any more.

Just in case anyone else Google’s this.

Upgrade Bikes service request form states they are unable to provide service or warranty work at the current time and to contact Thomson directly.

Aside from that, anyone know where I can sell a “like new, honest guv” kidney to fund an AXS?
