Looking to get some new bars and like the look/spec of the Thomson all mountain range.
Anyone using them and, if so, what are your thoughts?
I've got the carbon AM bars on my ti 456-evo and really like them. From a bike-porn point of view the finish is superb, they're spot-on the mark for me at 730mm and feel really nice.
By way of contrast, I run 680mm easton ec70 bars on my surly fatbike & easton 710mm carbon havoc on my titus ftm carbon. I prefer the thomson in general.... but it may just be that the marginal difference in sweep suits me better on that bike. But that said, there's not a lot in it.
got the 780mm DH ones with the X4 50mm stem. Stiffer than taking a bottle of viagra.
Weight is respectable and the finish is awesome
Be aware that they have less back and upsweep compared to most bars. They're 4 degreees upsweep and 6 back, typical numbers would be 5 up and 9 back.
Personally, I love my thomson DH bars. Perfect understated finish, the geometry felt a little strange at first but I grew to love it very quickly. While I'm sure carbon would have been lighter and probably stronger as well, mine have enough scratches on them that I'm happy they're aluminium.
Also have the carbon AM ones. They are beautiful and minimal looking and for me the width is perfect.
Thanks for the replies guys. A mate has them on his bike so will give them a try for fit.
Will be changing from Easton Monkeylite DH which feel like they put me a bit far back so the lesser backsweep should be a good thing..
Thomson Flat Ti on my Krampus, just feels like every other flat bar ive used
