Not sure if I posted this already, cannot find a link.

After the success of last year's Ridgeway Double, my plan is to make it an annual personal event.  This year will be North-South Wales, off road (ish), hopefully following a route that will finish in Cardiff so I can get a hotel at the far end, ride home and sleep in my own bed.  Looks like it'll be 180-200 miles, so further than my last ride and much hillier.  But I've got time to train and I'm feeling in better form already, and I've got some experience on which to build.  I'll probably blog the build up as well as the ride itself.

First step will be route planning.  Dave Buchanan's route seems to be a standard but his website is offline, and searching doesn't turn up much so I might have to plan my own.

The Cambrian Trail? Or something based thereon, maybe skip the bit heading out to Worm's Head.

Sounds tough, I like that!

Manchester to London on the road for me. Did it 3 years ago when I was under prepared and overweight and it was really, really hard. Hoping with some prep it'll be easier this year,

Cambrian trail looks too singletrackey and hence too tough for me in a day.

Ah, didn't realise it had to be in a day. On the basis that no-one's got under two days it might be a tall ask 🙂

OK, starts and finishes at railway stations - the TransCambrian Trail. An east-west crossing finishes at Dovey Junction which is the middle of nowhere but Machynlleth isn't far away. There's a better finish down to there but I've not done it.

I've done the Trans Cambrian way, the West-East one.

Thinking for N-S I can go down the Conwy valley and skirt the big mountains to the East.  I'd need to get to Brecon to pick up a simple spin back to Cardiff - not the Taff trail either 🙂

Mersey Roads 24 for me, not yet ventured onto the TT bike, so better get training that position. I don't think my body could handle long days off road.
