As part of the bike week stuff Glasgow City Council are hosting a event up at the wind turbine on Cathkin Braes

Saturday 15th of June 10.30am till 2pm

there will be a skills area set up for adults and kids and council staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the commonwealth track as well as cycling around Glasgow

Free!! skills training will be available throughout the day from some of Scotland's best coaches

there is also the chance to meet and ride with some of the people involved in building this trail and give them feedback.

So if your around on Saturday morning then pop up

I've never been before, do the gates off Castlemilk lead right onto the trails?
Would this be the easiest gate to aim for if cycling there from Glasgow Green?

if coming from glasgow green basically head for hampden, up past kings park and up past castlemilk, there is an access gate off the ardencraig road which leads to the trails.....you will end up 3/4's of the way round the track but you will get there

There is a bit around Clyde Climb, Rest & be thankful that the track loops back round to itself (once you've done the big drops). I wasn't the only one that got a bit confused here. There are posts but no circular disc way markers. It's also confusing that there are clearly walking paths cutting through that are not the track.

Not very well explained but there aren't many trail maps online or even on at the car park.

After one lap i'd figured it out!

I'll raise the issue and have it resolved early next week........as for trail maps at the trail head or at the park gates, there are 6 signs currently being made up and they will be in place in a couple of weeks...there have been problems getting the maps accurate as gps is a bit dodgy in the wooded sections

Nice one enduro-aid 🙂 they are superb trails and right on the doorstep for so many. Its a 6 min drive for me, so I can nip out, do a couple of laps and be home in an hour. Ideal.

Was surprised how quiet tonight and I remain pleased that given proximity to some reputedly dodgy areas it seems to be going incident free

Thanks enduro-aid.

It's a great track. Thought it would be a bit tamer TBH but glad it's not. The wood section is ace.

Went for a couple of laps on Wednesday evening - was very impressed with the wooded sections, thought the open stuff around the turbine maybe felt a bit 'BMX track', perhaps because it's so open. Generally more committing than I'd expected, which is great from a personal point of view, but I'd probably be hesitant to take our bike club kids round it.

Really great to have some more rails nearby though!

Ok to share on fb? Thought the braes page would have had something about this?

The Braes FB page is not connected to Glasgow city council or Glasgow 2014. My understanding is that it is run by an local resident, who is keen to encourage the trails

Well it was rotten weather but still turned up for a lap and a quick chat. Was more than happy to fill out a comments form- gave me a chance to give some (positive) feedback.
Nice to see some signage going up though- took me a few visits to get the hang of it but that was a while ago when a lot of it was still being finished..
