Scratched that Itch last weekend before the mag came out, and after a Borrowdale Bash circuit decided to do Greenup Edge to get back to Kendal after a night out under a tarp. After reading the article and them  giving it glowing praise I thought I had done the wrong route!!!!Indeed the descent back to Grasmere was enjoyable but that was due to off piste lines in lots of places and i was thanking my semi fat tyres for keeping me out of trouble. Hope people that read the mag and decide to ride it are prepared and have a high pain threshold. I did ride it in blustery wet conditions but with clear visibility. Fix the fells are working on the route so expect lots of big steps and razor sharp drainage channels. Would I ride it again probably but without a fully loaded bike!

You did it loaded up? Blimey! That is hard core!😉
Definitely go back on a dry day. We were riding lines that we didn't think would go but did. I was on my xc Turner Sultan and didn't feel the need for a bigger bike. Sure as hell glad I didn't do it with a load of luggage though.
Out of interest, have you ever gone from Watendlath over to Thirlmere?

I done Thirlmere to Watendlath but  would not want to do it the other way tis vey moist for a lot of the route but a good way to get into the Borrowdale valley.
