Just had a quick look at Facebook and saw this joyous post on a group I'm in.  It scares me a little that cyclists really are nothing more than an inconvenience - an annoyance - a scapegoat etc etc...

I'd report the driver for using a mobile phone.

Taking a photo whilst behind the wheel shows they are not the sharpest tool in the box.

Can you use a mobile phone at the wheel at traffic lights? No need to blur out their name surely if they've posted publically to facebook.

Not sure I'd want to cycle round there myself but looks like he's being held up by cars anyway.

The original thread has been deleted, to be replaced by a thread about how much of a dick the driver was...

im struggling with his point.

yes if someone had hit the cyclist then they would have not only been accused of being at fault they would have been at fault.

As jimdubleyou says, thread was deleted after it was pointed out (by me) that she was committing a crime by using her phone behind the wheel.  She then backpedalled (pun intended) and claimed she wasn't driving.  **** knows how that's possible.  Scarily, some folk were agreeing with her.

What are the “dismount paths for cyclists”? ?

No idea, but many councils enjoy scattering "cyclists, dismount" signs liberally along cycle lines and are then surprised when people don't use them and just ride on the road instead.

I've seen this sort of junction before that have a convoluted route that cyclists must take, often with multiple traffic-light controlled pedestrian crossing things. Created by a non-cycling bureaucrat with a 3" rule book carefully located under his left hand and, as it takes 10 minutes extra to get through using the cycle path, unsurprisingly most cyclists just stick to the road.

You can if you have a windscreen mounted phone holder and are able to say the sentence*

"Hey Siri, Take a picture"

* unless you have a Glaswegian accent, in which case Siri will announce that she's searching the web for "Tech Aperture"

I think there's some mega plan for that roundabout and cyclists which isn't going down well. I cycle it occasionally and it's big but not difficult for the experienced cyclist. The thought of crossing the lanes walking my bike would horrify me, seriously, for safety reasons and how long it would take (there are traffic lights)

I done looked on da map. They're those really useful little paths what join the feeder roads to the roundabout - so instead of navigating with the flow of traffic you have to wait and cross 3 or 4 lanes to get across. Absolutely ****ing useless and insulting.

What's the little path at about 8 o clock on the roundabout?

That's where the ambulance parks when they're scraping up the remains of cyclists.

I'd imagine it's so the Chap or chapess who cuts the grass has somewhere to safely(ish) park their car.

It's a little shortcut if you need to dodge the lights -

Similar thing on handy cross roundabout in high Wycombe - at one point it actually takes you to the centre of the roundabout and back again, creating yet another crossing point 😒

Someone once photographed me whilst driving at 70mph on the A41 - searched high and low for the relevant internet rant so I could dob them in but alas no such luck 😞

If you follow the cycle path there, you have to push/cycle/run across two lanes of traffic that is accelerating to go on to the dual carriageway with no lights to let you cross or markings - ****ing lethal.

Cycling round it is the easiest way from there. Once that red light changes you just go on to the next and have to stop again. Then you get a green and only have to go one more exit, at slow speed. Much safer.

* that was my old commute from Edinburgh to Dalkeith so I know the junction well

We know that, you know that, bloke in the photo up top knows that... try explaining it to an utter moron sat in their car though... pointless.
