But when I'm out cycling, if there's a long climb, my bottom set of gums really starts hurting as i start to breathe harder and my heart rate increases. I'm guessing it's my circulation, but it bloody hurts!

Anyone else get this?

Tom

When I have a headache, if I run upstairs or whatever it seems to throb and hurt more. Perhaps you have a gum or tooth issue that isn't painful enough to notice until you exert yourself.

Go to the dentist, get them to take a look in your gob hole.

Do you bite the handlebars? Perhaps you need to apply some bar tape to soften things up a little?

Yes, but it only usually happens in very cold weather if it's a hill right at the start of the ride and I ride up too quickly without having warmed up. I've had this for years and would get the same effect on cross country runs at school. 46 now and not dead yet so it's probably ok.

It's strange indeed then! Had my last dentist check up about 2 months ago, and was given the all clear. Maybe I'll book another one just incase.

Googling it tends to either say I'm going to die, or that people clench their jaws without knowing it, causing more bloodflow to the area. I'm hoping it's the 2nd option, and that i get to keep my jaw...
