I have just received two new "premium" rims in the post.
There is a clear, as in I can see through it, gap where the rim is joined.
I guess when laced this may close but it doesn't seem right and certainly not something i have seen before.
The gap is maybe 1mm.
Send back or normal?

I run tubeless on all bikes so no way I'd want a gap like that.
Must concede that was my first thought seeing the gap.
They are meant to be tubeless ready too 😥
There's nothing wrong with pinned joints, welded gives a a smoother brake track but it makes little or not difference to the strength because as you say, the spokes pull the point together.
But it shouldn't be a gap!
