Afternoon all,
I'm considering getting two of my bikes sold and replacing them with one bike to do all the duties they normally do.
I've got two 26" wheel hardtails,
1) an on one whippet built up with some really light high spec parts from a couple of years back 2x10 XX drivetrain, XTR brakes tubeless crossmax sls etc. Sid world cups.
2) Dialled bikes prince albert running 150mm revs with flat pedals and stans flow rims, bigger tyres than the other and lower spec parts.
I use number 1 for nearly all my hardtail riding (think classic xc type stuff). Number 2 is just built so I can take my daughter out on it (child seat clamp on steel frame is perfereable over putting it on a carbon frame). Totally overkill for what I've built it for so it's kind of pointless having both.
I figure if I split both and sell all the parts I could add a bit of money and treat myself to something new.
I'd like something thats fast over ground, 29er xc type hardtail but not so pitched over the front it's uncomfy for long days out.
Can't be carbon due to child seat clamp.
Really would like some suggestions of what there is available in this bracket as I haven't brought a new hardtail for years?
put all the better bits on the prince albert!
bigger wheels really don't make that much difference, honestly they don't. 🙂
Then I wouldn't get a new toy 🙁
were you thinking a whole new bike? coz a new frame, forks and wheels would be all you need to make a 'new' bike if you put all the drivetrain stuff on the new ride.
Yes, I had considered this... new frame fork wheels and headset can often come to the same price as a whole new bike though. It is an option.
I have one hardtail with the toddler seat permanently mounted and one hardtail for proper MTBing. Having to take the Weeride on and off repeatedly would be far too annoying.
Kona Honzo Ti?
chiefguy has a good point. I bought a rat bike for child carrying duties which has the child seat permanently attached and it remains in the shed most of the time. Keep the albert for that iiwy but 150mm revs might be overkill for a kid carrying bike! lol. rigid would be fine no?
Yeh I was just going to leave the clamp permanently attached.
Yes 150mm revs are overkill definitely, I had dreams of using it for trail centres etc but I always reach for my full suss for those types of outings
That Honzo ti looks really nice. Any mother suggestions for a slightly more aground style 29er frame/bike?
Honzo AL? 😉
27.5 hardtail with dual position forks built light with a spare light xc wheel set?
That ^ sounds hell of a plan, and what I'm thinking of doing myself. Though maybe just one set of forks.

i mean using something like the pike dual position 150mm. then you can lower them to 120mm when needed. 2 sets of forks would be pricey
bigger wheels really don't make that much difference
I didn't think they would, til I got some, and now I think they do!
