I've been posting a WTD HONC 2015 entry advert for some weeks now, and yesterday someone replied. See link and replies:

http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/wtd-honc-2015-entry-6

Something didn't seem quite right. Anyway, the chaps mate, Lee, emailed me later saying exactly this:

"Hi im a friend of marks how much are you looking to pay for the ticket"

Again something didn't seem right so I replied saying this:

"I'd be looking to pay whatever you paid for it to be fair. Is your entry for the long or short route?"

He replies with this:

"Hii i payed 30 pounds and yes long route. Id let it go for what i payed thanks"

Considering entries are £18 and you decide the length of route on the day I'd say something doesn't smell right!

So, the upshot, beware the chap who replied to my wanted ad (he's currently trying to flog a Lapierre frame on here) and his mate Lee!

Thanks Mark appreciate that. Hopefully one will come up nearer the event. Gutted I missed the entry, I'd been up all night trying to calm a very sick 14 month old boy and totally forgot about it

Definite scam

Googling the phone number shows someone called "kev" selling stuff elsewhere

The photo has been used on an ad on ebay for someone called happy-biking. Lots of positive feedback.

Or someone that pinches pictures from other ads then uses them to post fake ones?

Some of the text is exactly the same as on the ebay advert too. So its either the same bike, or as Bob says he's pinched the picture, and some of the text for a fake ad on here. Considering he calls himself Mark on here, the phone number links to Kev via Google searches, and the ebay account is Happy-Biking, with Garyh7460 on the logo, its not looking too clever.

We've had an eye on this poster already, but that's good sluthing guys. A cursory comparison of the two writing styles would lead me to suspect that the poster is not, in fact, eBay's "Happy-biking" account.

My esteemed colleague has now banned him pending an explanation (beat me to it!).

Cheers.

I've been emailing this guy about a Trek Fuel Ex. The price dropped by £100 before I'd even started negotiations, very suspect!
