When a simple job spirals....sorry it’s a bit long
I was cleaning my bike when I found a broken spoke on the rear wheel, oh bother!
Tyre off inc. Vitoria airliner, valve off, gorilla tape off, existing narrow rim tape (that I should’ve removed when I went tubeless but was being lazy) off
Then when I was cleaning all the glue residue, I found there was some cracking between the holes that was hidden by the rim tape
There’s no sign of cracking on the part of the rim that actually holds the spoke nipples, just the rim strip
I think the rim was an Alex volar 25
A quick google didn’t produce much, but a few people saying it’s fine just use decent rim tape
So should I replace the rim?
Has anyone seen any good deals about on 650b strong, fit and forget type rims, thinking maybe 30mm inner diameter?
