Getting to that time of year when wet feet becomes more of an issue so thinking of getting some waterproof socks. I already have some thick Sealskinz socks that are ok with my roomier winter boots but looking for some thinner weight socks so I can wear my normal shoes too. Still go for SS or do any other brands do a better thinner option? Will be wearing with Fox Flexair trousers and possibly with shorts on occasion so don’t want them cut too low...cheers

Bunch of the boys I ride with use the dexshell ones, they are apparently more like a regular sock.
Been meaning to order some for a while but haven’t got round to it yet!

I've got both dexshell and Sealskinz.... The dexshells are thinner but I find the sealskinz tend to keep your feet warmer for longer.

Tuesday bump.

Ok, put it this way, what socks do you wear when it's shitty and wet outside?

Merino wool, likely a Planet-X Thicky. They'll get wet but your feet should stay warm.

Wool socks get waterlogged, and the water transmits heat away from the body. Merino wool is hollow fibre so works slightly better to retain heat, but it isn't a good solution, it's the least worst of two bad solutions.

Merino wool is nice when your feet remain dry.

I tend to use neoprene socks - you can get some quite thin ones - that way you're not bothered about them getting wet - when it gets properly cold I then go to winter boots. I've also just ordered some of those rubber swimming socks to try over normal socks...

gore gortex socks.they won't stay waterproof for ever but last me a few years and then the old ones get demoted for cold damp days and the new ones wheeled out for proper biblical ones. wear whatever socks comfortably fit underneath.
