So I have been messing around with my Stumpy and added a DMR Defy stem, so I can have a slightly shorter stem than the original bike came with (35mm v 50mmm). DMR Stem
.
The space above the stem is tighter (because of the shape) so my usual box of spare carbon ones won’t fit. Any recommendations for a thinner walled stem? Looks like alloy ones are thinner (in terms of wall thickness) than the carbon ones.

I need to order online as am stuck at home with C19, so can’t go and see the LBS.

Titanium might be your best bet.

Or filing flat sides onto alu spacers.

Having said that, you could ask DMR as one of the photos on that site shows a headset spacer in use.

Alloy should fit. I have that stem with a hope spacer between stem and top cap.

Thanks both. As a Hope spacer fits, I’ll order some of those and then will hopefully have a bit more adjustment in terms of stem/bar height.

Most alloy will fit and hope ones have a thinner wall than most so you can't go wrong with those.

The variety of thicknesses out there is surprising considering some cnc'd stems have a recess for a top cap, I even had one spacer that wouldn't sit flat on top of a forged stem.
