Would using thicker rotors effectively give you a closer bite point/less lever throw? Has anyone tried it?

Currently got some Guide REs, was wondering if some Magura rotors would make a difference.

Advancing the pistons and moving the pads closer to the disc would do the same job, and be cheaper...

Wouldn't work in normal operation. The pads are self adjusting so will adjust to the same gap. They only adjust in, not out, so it would work if you set them up with a thinner disk then swap to the thicker one. You can achieve the same thing by taking the wheel off and giving the lever a gentle squeeze. Much easier. If you over do it just push the pads back and try again.

Wouldn't work. It would just cause pad rub on new pads, and then when the clearance increases, the pistons would retract the same distance as with normal discs. That's why the bite point doesn't change as the pads wear down.

Cheers all. I didn't think it would but couldn't figure out why 🙂
