Time for the post summer strip and rebuild of my bike to get it all lovely and nice and ready for the winter. 1x10 SLX and superstar front guide working fine but I don't really like the idea of just taking everything off the bike and putting it back on again....
Toying with the idea of trying out a thick thin works components ring on the front and going to a zee shadow+ mech on the back from a bog slx. First of all will I notice any difference going from a long cage mech to a short cage? Not a problem now but will it improve things?
Also and more importantly will wibbly ring and zee+ cope with no guide on a C456, piloted very badly through everything from XC to mincing down the occasional bits of black - and does an inch of mud over everything make the chain retention worse? (Using KMC extralight chains if that makes a difference..)
In STW fashion - will I die? 😉
