Morning all

Am off to Centreparcs this week with the family. Both the kids are v small so I won’t be doing any riding during the day but thought I’d go out for a quick blast once they are in bed. Anyone know how far the trails are from the accommodation and what they are like? Are there pre-defined routes etc? And if so, how long are they? Looking for about an hour loop...

Iirc you head out of the main gate and head west on the road for a mile or so. You can then hop north into the woods and onto one of the waymarked trails. That's what we did a few years ago.

You mean Thetford?
As you walk up the inside of the complex with the log cabins on your right and the perimeter fence on the left. Look the other side of the fence and you will see a track. ride down there and keep turning right and this will in about 8 miles of double track take you to the visitor centre.
Alternatively jump in the car and head to:
Thetford Forest, High Lodge, Brandon IP27 0AF and park then pick any of the 4 routes.
None are hard or down hill or up hill as its norfolk but if you ride it quickly it can be very pleasing buddy. Its very demanding as its peddling non-stop. blue average 13mph and reds perhaps a little slower is achievable for a good workout.

That area most of the way across to FR6/FR4 is 'no public access' Elveden Estate land, best to go in at FR7/FR8/FR9 on the right hand side of the B1106 toward Brandon, The Lime burner (red) trail crosses FR9 just inside the gate but if you go in at FR7 and go left on the next fire track you will eventually cross the Lime Burner. There were some nice wild trails up that end but since harvesting ops, although some are still there, they're not connected well.

it never used to be a problem riding anywhere there in the forest(apart from the firing range), but it all looks the same, so there is quite a danger of getting lost

Stick to riding the trails at Brandon Country Park, the Centre Parcs side of the road much more interesting.

There’s a set of small jump lines hidden not too far from centre parks. You can session them nicely for an hour.

I'm there next week too, although I doubt I get away with riding.
Be careful with your bike as thefts from the site are common.

Maybe I’ll just take the old pompetamine that has a hamax fitting on it already...guessing the trails don’t need anything too beefy anyway

Here is a pic of directions to the trail from Brandon Country park.

You could just head up the main road from Center Parcs (take a rear light, the tree cover makes it quite dim) which is the main road on that pic. Then head across the road at the fire road that I marked 'bottom of beast'.
You can either turn onto one of the waymarked trails at that point (the orange arrow) or head back to the start of the trails...
