Any one using cane creek v brake drop bar levers on midge bars.
My current levers are really uncomfortable when riding on the hoods and i find it difficult to get decent braking power, its fine when in the drops but i like riding on the hoods in traffic, wonderd if these are any good
Thanks
I switched from Dia Comp to Cane Creek and found the lever to be a much nicer shape and better quality all round.
I don't ride on the hoods though so have no idea if they feel better there or not. They do in the drops though.
I have a couple of bikes set up with Midge's and Cane-Creek drop V levers - both pulling on BB7's and both have more than enough power from a couple of fingers off the hoods.
I'm almost always on the hoods, and find them really comfy - they do feel quite big in the hand, certainly not uncomfortably so (which is subjective of course), but noticeably more than the pre-STI Ultega's I've got on a road bike.
I had to shim my Can-Creek levers with a bit of beer can to get a 'proper' fit - I'd found that mine would twist a little when pulling on the hoods, honking up a climb.
I can't remember what beer-can it was (I found it on the side of the road), but it was quite a decent thickness, it didn't feel like comedy metal when I cut it.
(Just sayin' 😉 )
Mine are paired with cross-top levers - maybe just add them to your current set up as an alternative?
Cheers fellas probably give them a try
Best beer can for shims is Guinness 😀
I like the Tektro RL520 drop bar V brake levers.
I think they are comfortable, including on the hoods.
And the braking works well - much better than the cantilever brakes I had previously anyway.
