Worth checking with the info guys at Grizedale to see if any other bikes have been nicked from outside the cafe or off cars this weekend. Seems ridiculous for such a brazen theft to happen in Satterthwaite.

Theiving scum nabbed = bike returned!. Result. Got my Trek back this afternoon 2 WPC s stopped the scrote riding it on Saturday but let him go as they did not know it was stolen. Quick call to another cop shop and they realized it was mine. Tea-leaf nabbed this morning on it at 4am!. "Delivered" back to me today (minus Selle Italia SLR saddle and SPDs). But glad to have it back!. Hope other STW folk missing their bike get them back!. 🙂

but let him go as they did not know it was stolen

Would it not be sensible for the WPCs to have called in the description / serial number? Thief surely would have been apprehended there and then?

Good result though mate.

Recovered near Coniston. Odd feeling getting it back after it's "holiday" though, as much nicer bike taken in last two weeks been posted on here may never come back......

BREAKING NEWS,scumbag goes down!!!. Just gotta cal on the mobile local CID in Barrow. Mr Lightfingers who nicked my Trek was in court yesterday. Told magistrates he "bought" the bike of a bloke at Grizedale?, so he pleaded guilty to recieving stolen goods (more serious crime numbnuts!,shoulda a said you stole it!), so they have given him 3 months in prison. Hope he likes porridge and he should buy a soap-on-a-rope for the showers. Result.

Excellent.

Though very surprised he got jail for it. Always thought bike theft was little more than a slap on the wrist. Maybe he "had previous".

Chhers guys!,yep local plod on it like a car bonnet!. Slow crime rate possibly in Lakes at the moment!. Lovely lady detective I talked to this morning said our young lightfingered friend was in Young Offenders place last time he was nicked and hated it,lets see how he likes grown-ups prison!!. 🙂

To deadkenny, recieving stolen goods is a more serious offence (girlfriend's brother is a PC and worked this case) he would have got non custodial for nicking it I guess!
