Anyone else tried one of these? I've got a 29x2.5" in light/grippy on the front of my new gnarpoon, and whilst 99% of the time it feels sodding awesome, the remaining 1% it's trying to kill me.
Braking and hard corning grip seems absolutely limitless, but there's a point in between - mainly on off-cambers - where it suddenly spits traction. I had a full on out-the-front-door moment yesterday on some steep loamy goodness, as well as a bunch of saves of various scales, all for no apparent reason - not aware of clipping anything or making a mistake - just finding the front wheel 6" to the left or right of where I thought it was.
There's quite a gap in the tread between the centre knobs and the side ones - could it be this causing the issue? It's mostly a wettish weather tyre and obviously at the mo, it's bone dry and I'm riding on rock or hardpacked loam/baked earth. It feels so good most of the time that I can push really hard, then *BAM*...
(I've got it at 22psi and I'm pretty sure the fork rebound is within a click or so of spot on)
Thoughts?
Thanks...
sounds like the old maxxis ardent
Sounds more like a DHF.
