You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I have decided to get my leg over my old 5 again and hit the trails after a seven year absence (and on here also)
Part of that cathartic return was to resurrect my old Trout Lumen Liberator in readiness for the shorter days and longer nights ahead, that and giving the five the once over (thanks to Ride On for the service on the Float R’s)
However the charger and battery pack for the light were not to be found.
So I would like to do a little thank you and shout out to Mark at MTB Batteries for turning around a new better spec battery and a shiny charger.
However having found out that Troutie himself had passed away was sad indeed and made the rebuild of the light more poignant.
So my light shines for him and others no longer with us.
So if any of you see an old man (56) carting about (sic) the trails of Rossendale on a 2009 grey 5 then a raised finger and a nod would be wonderful.
Happy trails
Good work that man. I have the same light, and have resolved to keep using it, albeit with fresh batteries, for as long as I can, especially since trouties passing.
I'm nowhere near Rossendale, but consider this finger raised to you (in the nicest possible way!)
Cheers fadda. Its been incredible getting out again and having a go. I was never a great rider but managed to hook up with some incredible lads who took me under their wing so to speak.
I'm raising a glass of red to Mr Troute as we speak

And here, just over Rooley Moor.
Welcome back monty, to the forum and the riding.
You know the rule though, where's the pic of the 5?!😁
I've been away so long I have forgotten how to post a picture

I'm still running a Hope Vision 2 that got Trouted, keep meaning to get a 4 cell battery from Mark, it burns through the 2 cell a bit fast..
His daughter put somne photos on Facebook for Fathers Day, lovely chap, he moved onto brewing amazing beer (after building his own brewkit obviously) after lights became silly cheap.
Agreed Troutie was an incredible chap who I had the privilege to meet a couple of times. The light still runs incredibly well and as Mark at mtb batteries reflected is hard to beat now in terms of performance.
Marks support was superb re the new battery and charger and shipped very quickly reflecting the strange times we are in
Welcome back to mtb OP. I instigated a little malvern alps troutie hotspot a few years ago after hearing on here about them and getting a liberator, with other guys also purchasing. The liberator is still in use (and needs a replacement battery) and still has one of the nicest spreads for riding. Met Troutie when I went to his house to get the LEDs updated to the latest spec a few years ago, v nice guy.
My Spiders Eyes light was also great but has blown an LED and I've failed to be able to get in past the glued down dome lens in order to see how tricky it would be to replace - any tips?
Two sets of troutie lights still going strong in our group. A thoroughly lovely guy he was.
Welcome back Monty.
Welcome back Monty.
Troutie did make some awesome lights and, as said, was a great chap. Met him, ans Smudge, a few times and both were very helpful when I started making & selling lights.

Still no joy?
Hi Stevied - tbh I've not followed it up any more until this thread reminded me. Hope you're well and enjoying the local dry trails.
Cheers lads for the good wishes.
Pedlad perhaps give Mark at mtb batteries a shout.
I had my liberator apart to check in an internal connection and taking it apart took me back to my apprenticeship days at Openshaw Tech ( lots of trepidation and fear )
The Trout light got its try out tonight.

There's something really nice about keeping Trouties lights going, I only met him a few times at ard rock, marshalling at his usual spot, and in the beer garden after, was a really nice fella.
Gone but not forgotten. 💡
